Gnocchi with sauerkraut and cooked ham

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 250 g sauerkraut, approx.
  • ½ tsp vegetable stock powder
  • 2 g gnocchi, approx., from the refrigerated section
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 75 ml water
  • 75 g sour cream or sour cream, approx.
  • 75 g cheese, grated, approx. 75 – 100 g
  • some salt and pepper
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 3 juniper berries
  • some oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

topped with cheese

Finely slice or dice the onions and sauté in hot oil in a sufficiently large, lidded pan or a wide saucepan. Loosen the sauerkraut and add it with the bay leaf and juniper berries. Dust with bouillon powder, pour in about 75 ml of water, and sauté with the lid closed for about 15 minutes. Remove the bay leaf and juniper berries, mix the diced cooked ham and the gnocchi with the cabbage, reduce the heat, and season everything with sour cream, salt, and pepper. Transfer to a casserole dish, sprinkle with cheese, and bake for about 20-30 minutes in a preheated oven at 200°C (top and bottom heat). The casserole is easy to adapt, for example, by adding paprika to the cabbage and replacing the cooked ham with diced cured ham, smoked pork loin, or mettenden. This quantity serves 2-3 people.
