Grain patties

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 150 g rye meal
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 50 g oat flakes
  • 1 egg(s) or equivalent water
  • 3 tbsp herbs, fresh
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch(s) of pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) black cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp pizza seasoning
  • 1 tsp spice mix (gyro or meat seasoning)
  • n. B. Oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Mix the rye groats with the water and let them swell for about 15 minutes. In the meantime, finely dice the onion and finely chop the herbs (e.g. chives, garlic chives, and parsley). Stir the egg into the groats and add the remaining ingredients. The egg can also be omitted and replaced with the appropriate amount of water. The batter should not be too firm, but should have a consistency more like cake batter. Heat the oil in a pan. Add one tablespoon of batter to each patty and fry for about 5 minutes on each side over moderate heat. This will make about 16 patties, which are also very good for freezing. In this case, it is best not to fry them for as long and to finish cooking them in the pan while thawing.
