Jan Hagel – Dutch Cookies

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 225 g butter
  • 175 g sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 250 g flour
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 egg white, mixed with a little water
  • 60 g walnuts, chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk and mix well; the mixture should form a creamy mixture. Add the flour and cinnamon and mix well. Spread the dough thinly onto a well-greased baking sheet (I always use two baking sheets, each 25 x 20 cm). Press the dough down with your fingers and prick it several times with a fork. Dilute the egg white with a little water and brush the dough with it. Sprinkle with the walnuts and press them in lightly. Bake at 150°C (top and bottom heat) for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and cut into squares or rectangles. I made 16 rectangles per baking sheet. Allow to cool, then remove from the baking sheet.
