- 500 g currants, destemmed
- 5 eggs

Prepare a shortcrust pastry from flour, baking powder, egg, sugar, and margarine. Line a 26cm black sheet springform pan with the pastry and raise the edges to about 2cm. Prick the base several times with a fork. For the topping, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat. Finely grind the almonds and stir into the beaten egg whites. Finally, carefully fold in the washed berries. Pour the mixture into the pan and place it on a rack in the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour at 175°C (top/bottom heat). One 12-serving slice of cake has approximately 330 kcal.
