Beef with peppers and onions Chinese style

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 300 g sirloin steak(s)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 pointed peppers, red
  • 2 onions, white
  • 1 piece(s) ginger root (about 2 cm)
  • 150 g rice
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 30 ml water
  • some pepper, white

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Cut the beef into thin strips. Place in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, cornstarch and a little pepper; mix thoroughly and leave to stand in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Cook the rice in salted water according to the package instructions. Peel the onions and cut into eighths, slice the bell peppers, remove the seeds and cut into large pieces. Peel the ginger and chop very finely. Briefly fry the beef in the oil in a wok until hot, then remove and set aside. Briefly fry the onion, bell pepper and ginger in the pan juices. Deglaze with the water and remaining soy sauce and simmer briefly until the vegetables are almost cooked and still firm to the bite. Now add the meat back in and let it cook in the vegetables for a while longer, season with pepper and a little more soy sauce if desired and serve with the rice.
