Classic lentil stew

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 chili pepper(s)
  • 1 bunch of soup vegetables (leeks, carrots, celery, parsley)
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 2 pairs of sausages (pepper biters, paprika sausages, etc.)
  • 250 g lentils
  • e.g. vegetable broth
  • some potatoes (depending on hunger)
  • 200 g beans, green
  • 1 dash of Worcestershire sauce or HP Brown Sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard, sweet
  • 1 shot of balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

simple but good.

Dice the onion, garlic, and chili (if desired), and sauté in olive oil. Add the finely chopped vegetables, diced sausage, and bacon, and sauté lightly. Add the stock and lentils and bring to a boil. Simmer for approximately 45 minutes, depending on the lentils’ cooking time (according to the package instructions). Add the diced potatoes approximately 20-25 minutes before the end of the cooking time, and the green beans approximately 10 minutes before the end. Season to taste with balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and/or (better!) English brown sauce, salt, pepper, sweet mustard, and a pinch of sugar.
