Sauerkraut and mashed potato casserole with Leberkäse

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 cans of mild sauerkraut (420 g)
  • 4 servings of mashed potatoes
  • 4 slices of Leberkäse
  • 1 pack of grated cheese
  • nutmeg
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Season the sauerkraut with pepper and salt and spread it in a baking dish. Dice the Leberkäse (meatloaf) and arrange it on top of the sauerkraut. Season the mashed potatoes with pepper, salt, and nutmeg and spread it on top of the Leberkäse (meatloaf). Sprinkle the cheese on top. Bake everything at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 45 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown. Tip: This also tastes great with Cabanossi instead of Leberkäse.
