Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 gr. can/n peach(s), halved fruits in sugar syrup
  • 8 cm ginger root
  • 4 stalk(s) cinnamon, each about 5 cm long
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns, whole
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp white vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

sweet and sour pickled peaches, as a side dish to roast pork

The peaches and their syrup are poured into a saucepan. Add the ginger, cut into nice, thin slices (it looks better later), and the remaining ingredients. Bring everything to a boil and simmer for a minute. Then the peaches are placed in attractive jars and the liquid is poured over them. The spices should be evenly distributed so that the peaches can absorb all the flavors as they cool. Quickly clean the rims of the jars, then immediately seal them with twist-off lids and cool them upside down. Nicely decorated, this jar can also make a lovely Christmas gift.
