Quick dark onion sauce

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 m.-large onion(s), white
  • 100 ml red wine
  • 400 ml broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 50 g butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel the onions and garlic, finely dice the garlic, and slice the onions into half rings. Melt the butter in a large pan and fry the onions and garlic until the onions begin to brown. Then dust with flour and continue frying for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Deglaze with the wine, thoroughly scraping the bottom of the pan, allowing the wine to almost completely evaporate. Add the stock, stir vigorously once more, and then cover and simmer gently over medium heat for about 20 minutes. Serve hot. The sauce goes perfectly with schnitzel or potato dishes.
