East Frisian Waffles (East Frisian Croissants)
The perfect east frisian waffles (east frisian croissants) recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
Depending on the taste you want
- 250 g Rock sugar brown
- 200 g Butter
- 0,5 l Water
- 3 Pc. Eggs
- 3 packet Vanilla sugar
- Vanilla pods (pulp only)
- Aniseed
- Ground cinnamon
- This recipe is about special waffles that require a croissant iron. The batter is not suitable for a normal waffle iron!
- Boil the water together with the rock sugar and the vanilla sugar until everything is dissolved. Remove from heat and melt the butter in the sugar water. Then let it cool down.
- Pour the water-sugar-butter mixture onto the flour and stir thoroughly.
- Now mix in the eggs and divide the dough according to the number of flavors you want.
- Mix in the respective spices and preheat the croissant iron.
- Depending on the iron, put a tablespoon of dough in the machine and “iron” the finished wafers after removing them. If you want, you can also roll croissants and fill them with ice or cream. The initially soft waffles quickly become hard and crispy when they cool down.
