Meatballs with Brussels Sprouts Cheese Filling and White Wine Sauce
The perfect meatballs with brussels sprouts cheese filling and white wine sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
for the filled meatballs
- 200 g Brussels sprouts fresh
- 1 piece Onion
- 60 g Dumpling bread
- 50 ml Vegetable broth
- 1 piece Organic egg
- 300 g Mixed minced meat
- 2 pinch Ground caraway
- 6 disc Cheese
- Salt and pepper
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil for frying
for the white wine sauce
- 100 ml White wine
- 50 g Creme fraiche Cheese
- 1 tbsp Green peppercorns
- 1 tsp Paprika powder
- Freshly chopped chives
- Salt and pepper
also
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Sesame seeds white
Preparation of the filled meatballs
- Clean and wash the Brussels sprouts, cut the stalk crosswise and cook in boiling salted water for about 15 minutes until al dente. Strain, rinse immediately with cold water and drain well.
- Peel, wash and finely chop small onions. Whisk the egg with the vegetable stock and soak the dumpling bread (or an old bread roll) with it.
- Put the minced meat in a bowl and knead well with the onion, egg and bread mixture, caraway seeds, salt and pepper and cover for 30 minutes.
- Using moistened hands, form 6 meatballs out of the minced meat and press a hollow into each one.
- Wrap the cheese slices around the Brussels sprouts (6 pieces). Place in the hollows of the meatballs, close at the top and flatten a little.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan and fry the filled meatballs over a medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side. Take out and keep warm.
Preparation of the white wine sauce
- Boil off the meat stock with white wine. Stir in the crème fraîche with peppercorns and paprika powder. Mix in the chopped chives and season with salt and pepper.
Preparation of the sesame Brussels sprouts
- Heat the butter in a small pan, briefly toast the sesame seeds in it. Add the remaining Brussels sprouts, season lightly and toss in the pan for 2-3 minutes.
Serving
- Spread the white wine sauce on preheated serving plates, place 3 meatballs on top, garnish with sesame florets and parsley leaves.
- We enjoyed the fine dish with rice, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes and a fresh green salad are also tasty as a side dish.
