Basic Recipe: Powdered Sugar Fondant

The perfect basic recipe: powdered sugar fondant recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 3 tbsp Water
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 60 g Margarine
  • 500 g Powdered sugar

Preparation:

  1. Put the margarine, water and lemon juice in a saucepan and bring to the boil briefly.
  2. Approx. Stir in half of the icing sugar and remove the saucepan from the stove.
  3. Spread the rest of the powdered sugar on the work surface.
  4. Put the boiled mass on top and knead.
  5. Wrap the fondant in cling film and leave to rest in the refrigerator overnight.
  6. Before kneading, the fondant should be left at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Important:

  1. The fondant should be soft and easy to knead. If it has gotten too firm, you should add some water. If it’s too soft, adding more powdered sugar will help.
