Soups / Stews: Greek Onion Mince Stew with Feta and Sesame Sour Cream

The perfect soups / stews: greek onion mince stew with feta and sesame sour cream recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the stew:

  • 500 g Mixed minced meat
  • 1,5 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 middle Red onions
  • 2 middle Onions
  • 1 middle Clove of garlic
  • 1 Red peppers
  • 1 Green peppers
  • 500 g Potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Paprika pulp, tube
  • 1,2 l Vegetable broth hot
  • 75 g Processed herb cheese
  • 125 g Crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp Frozen chives

Spices:

  • Salt, white pepper
  • 2 tsp Gyros spice
  • 1 tbsp Sweet paprika powder
  • 1 pinch Ground cumin
  • 1 pinch Sugar

For the sesame sour cream:

  • 1 small Clove of garlic
  • 200 g Sour cream
  • 2 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp Frozen chives
  • 1 tsp Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Salt, colored pepper from the mill
  1. For the stew, peel off the onions and garlic, dice finely. Clean and wash the peppers, cut into cubes. Peel, rinse and chop the potatoes. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and fry the minced meat in it until crumbly.
  2. When the minced meat has turned color, add the onions and peppers and sauté for about 5 minutes. Then add the garlic and potatoes. Fry for 3-5 minutes while stirring.
  3. Stir in the paprika pulp and fry briefly. Deglaze with the hot vegetable stock and bring to the boil. Season the stew with a little salt, white pepper, gyros spice, paprika powder, cumin and sugar. Simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, prepare the sesame sour cream. To do this, peel off the garlic clove and chop very finely. Mix together the garlic, sour cream, roasted sesame seeds, chives and lemon juice. Season with salt and colored pepper and season to taste.
  5. When the cooking time is over, add both types of cheese to the pan and let melt while stirring. Stir in the chives, season again with the spices.
  6. Arrange the stew in portions in deep plates. Put a dollop of sour cream on top and serve. Bon appetit and have fun cooking at home :-)!
