Hearty Oven Knuckle

The perfect hearty oven knuckle recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Front leg of pork
  • 300 ml Light beer
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 0,5 teaspoon Ground caraway
  • 0,5 teaspoon Chilli flakes
  • 0,5 teaspoon Steak seasoning
  • 200 ml Broth
  • 200 ml Mixed cornstarch
  1. First, gently cook the knuckle in boiling water for about 60 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 240 degrees. Cover a fat pan with a grid and place the cooked knuckle on it and pour the beer over it.
  3. Mix the oil with caraway seeds, chilli flakes and steak spice and brush the knuckle with it. Let it sizzle in the oven for about an hour, brushing the beer every now and then – you can also drizzle beer over it again.
  4. Keep the meat warm in the switched off oven until the sauce is cooked. To do this, simmer the roasting set from the fat pan with the broth, season to taste with your choice of spices, if necessary thicken with mixed cornstarch and serve with the meat.
  5. We ate the knuckle of the oven with potatoes and vegetable sticks because there was no sauerkraut in the house.
