Shallots Red Wine Reduction

The perfect shallots red wine reduction recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 10 approx. Shallots depending on size
  • 2 tbsp Sugar or powdered sugar
  • 500 ml Dry red wine
  • Oil for frying the shallots
  1. Peel the shallots and cut in halves or quarters depending on the size. Heat a saucepan with oil and fry the shallots in it until they have a little color, sprinkle with sugar or powdered sugar and let them caramelize a little. Deglaze the whole thing with red wine and let it reduce for about 30-50 minutes depending on the desired consistency. Very easy and goes well with duck, game and much more!
