All crabs have one thing in common: once they’re dead, their flesh spoils in no time. Therefore, crustaceans are sold either live, pre-cooked or frozen.
In Germany, there is only one killing method permitted by law for animals bought alive: Put the whole lobster in boiling water and cook for about 15 minutes until the shell is deep red.
