Dishwashers save a lot of additional work, and modern machines use significantly less water than washing dishes by hand. But every now and then a dishwasher gets clogged. Read what you can do in this case below:

• Sieves: Your dishwasher has several sieves. They are designed to keep out the coarsest dirt and ensure that important components do not become clogged. But it can happen that the filters themselves become clogged and no longer let the water through quickly enough. Check all filters that come into contact with the wastewater. Thorough cleaning will help you identify the clogged areas.
• Pump sump: The so-called pump sump is the area where the water collects before it can be pumped out. The water is pumped out from there by the drain pump. The pump itself can be damaged, but leftover food is usually the main cause. They settle in the impeller housing and clog it, so the water cannot be pumped out and accumulates. Clean the relevant areas of the drain pump.
• Hose: After checking the screens, you should check the drain hose. In most cases, there are leftovers of food or other objects that are responsible for the blockage. Depending on how well you can reach the hose, you will quickly find out the cause. If you don’t know exactly where the waste water hose is and how to reach it, consult the operating instructions.
• Limescale: In addition to leftover food, which you usually recognize immediately, limescale is particularly responsible for clogging your dishwasher. If you have removed the individual components, we recommend that you also descale them. Especially with the waste water hose, you can only see limescale residue on the first few centimeters. Tip: You can prevent limescale deposits by regularly descaling your dishwasher.
• Process: In the kitchen, one process is usually responsible for all areas. If this is clogged, then the water from the kitchen sink will not drain properly. Test the sink drain and then clean the drain. The built-in siphon can also be clogged.
• Electronics: If you have not been able to find the fault and rule out any damage to the checked components, there may be a problem with the electronics. The pump down command may no longer be executed or the pump itself will no longer start. You can find out by starting a program and listening to the noises that are made. If you don’t hear the pump, call an expert.
