Fondue side dishes: Delicious vegetables are the first choice
One of the best accompaniments to a meat fondue is, of course, vegetables. This can loosen up the heaviness of the meat perfectly and also provides valuable vitamins.
- For example, make baked eggplant. Simply cut the aubergines into slices, turn them in flour and fry them in plenty of olive oil. Since aubergines draw a lot of oil, you should always keep an eye on the pan.
- In general, stewed and baked vegetables taste very good with a fondue. Serve with a delicious dip (e.g. tzatziki) and you have a perfect side dish.
- Corn on the cob or gherkins from the jar is also suitable as a hearty side dish for meat dishes.
- Of course, raw food plates are always a hit. Simply cut raw vegetables into bite-sized strips that are perfect for dipping. Zaki or a delicious honey-mustard dip also goes well with this – just as you like it.
Bread for meat fondue
The second classic is of course bread as a fondue side dish. There are many varieties here for you to choose from.
- Italian ciabatta is perfect because it is wonderfully fluffy. Together with the juiciness of the meat, it becomes a perfect combination.
- But a French baguette is also a delicious bread to go with a meat fondue. As does brown bread, if you like it a little stronger.
- In general, a delicious herb butter for the bread is good, because it makes the entire dish spicier and tastier.
- In addition to bread, other carbohydrate-containing foods are of course also a great side dish. You can also try baked or jacket potatoes, for example.
Fondue side dishes: Salad with the meat dish
In addition to vegetables, whole salad compositions are of course also suitable as a side dish. There are actually no limits to your imagination here, as long as you like it.
- In order not to additionally weigh down the entire dish, you should resort to light salads with a little mayonnaise.
- We recommend Mediterranean salads that use a vinegar and oil dressing. This is particularly light and, depending on the combination, can also be very tasty.
- Fruity combinations, for example, are great here, such as lamb’s lettuce with orange vinaigrette and small pieces of orange.
