Use of rose salt

Rose Salt is an aromatic blend of sea salt and crushed rose petals.

  • Due to the rose petals, it contains, rose salt has a reddish to violet color and a flowery scent.
  • Thanks to its unusual appearance, rose salt is often used to decorate dishes. Salt is also popular in Moroccan cuisine.
  • Rose salt can be used both in the preparation of dishes and for salt at the table.
  • The flowery salt goes well with fish, white meat, salad, quark, vegetables, and potato dishes.
  • Rose salt is coarse-grained and therefore slightly moist. This means that the salt is usually not suitable for spice mills.
  • Because of its special color, homemade rose salt is also a good gift.

How to make rose salt yourself

You can easily make rose salt from fresh or dried rose petals and coarse sea salt. To prepare rose salt, you need about 150 grams of coarse sea salt and 20 grams of rose petals.

  • Only use roses that have not been sprayed, otherwise, toxins will get into the salt. If you don’t have fresh rose petals, you can use organic quality dried leaves.
  • Place the rose petals in a blender with the salt and blend the ingredients for 30 to 60 seconds.
  • Place the salt in a shallow casserole dish or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Dry the salt in the oven at 50 degrees Celsius for at least two hours. If the leaves are not dry after that, the time must be increased.
  • If you use dried leaves, you can do without drying them in the oven. Pour the finished salt into an empty spice jar and seal it tightly.
