How to prepare a vegan celery schnitzel

For two portions of celery schnitzel, you need the following ingredients: half a celery bulb, salt, breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons flour, 6 tablespoons water, and vegetable oil.

  1. Peel the celery and cut it into 1cm slices.
  2. Then boil the celery slices in salted water for 10 minutes.
  3. Now mix 6 tablespoons of water with a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of flour.
  4. Dip the celery first in the flour and water mixture and then in the provided breadcrumbs. Tip: Repeat the process for a thicker breading.
  5. Now fry the escalopes in enough oil until they are golden brown.

Vegan schnitzel variations

In addition to celery, other types of vegetables are also suitable for this vegan preparation method. You can also make the schnitzel spicier by adding salt and other spices such as curry, chili, or pepper to the water-flour mixture.
