As it turned out, there are foods that are strictly forbidden to store in the refrigerator. Doctors say that some foods should never be kept in the refrigerator. According to experts, they can deteriorate or lose their usefulness and taste.

In order not to make a mistake in the storage place, use the list to help you protect your health.

Tomato

Under the influence of cold air, the chemical composition of tomatoes changes, and the taste becomes less pleasant and bright. Unripe tomatoes are best stored on the windowsill, and ripe fruits are best stored in the kitchen in a cool place.

Onions

Whole and unpeeled onions should not be stored in the refrigerator – this can lead to rapid spoilage of the product. The starch in onions turns into sugar and this causes this healthy vegetable to become soft and loose.

Melon

Doctors do not recommend keeping cantaloupe in the refrigerator, as cold air can severely damage the cantaloupe. In addition, in the cold, the growth of antioxidants begins to slow down sharply. Beta carotenes and lycopene are the most useful in melons.

Coffee

Some people store coffee in the refrigerator. However, this is a direct way to deteriorate the taste of the product. Neither ground coffee nor beans should be stored in the refrigerator, as there is a risk of condensation. Coffee should be stored in the pantry or in a tightly closed jar in the kitchen cabinet.

Potatoes

The chemical composition of potatoes changes when placed in a cold place. Starch begins to turn into sugar, and the product becomes loose and unpleasant in taste. The texture will change, and the potatoes will become grainy and even dangerous for those who need to monitor their blood sugar. The decomposition of sugars at low temperatures can lead to the formation of a heavy chemical called acrylamide.

Banana

Bananas in the refrigerator quickly change color and turn brown. The taste of the banana will not change, but the appearance will begin to discourage you from eating them.

Bread

It is believed that bread will live much longer in the refrigerator. However, this is not true and you should buy exactly as much as you plan to eat in the next day or two. If you keep bread in a room for several days, it will start to mold, in the refrigerator this process slows down and the bread simply dries out, but loses all its flavor.
