Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 tbsp oil (palm oil)
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 500 g fish, sea fish or seafood (shrimp)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 4 tomatoes, quartered
  • 2 tbsp coriander or parsley
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch(s) of cayenne pepper
  • 1 can coconut milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Brazilian fish soup

Heat the palm oil in a medium saucepan. Sauté the finely chopped onion until lightly browned. Add the garlic and the chopped fish. Sauté for about three minutes. Add salt, lime juice, the quartered tomatoes, the finely chopped cilantro, pepper, cayenne pepper, and coconut milk. Simmer gently for five minutes. Serve with or without rice.
