Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg beef or veal
- 1 kg potatoes
- 3 onions, grated
- 4 bell peppers, red, finely chopped
- 1 pepper, hot, finely chopped
- 700 g tomatoes, pureed
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup olive oil
- ½ bunch parsley, chopped
- some caraway
- some oregano
- salt and pepper
- some parsley, chopped, for garnishing
- 1 cup of cheese (Kefalotiri), or Gruyère
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Peel, boil, and slice the potatoes. Wash the meat, cut into bite-sized pieces, and place in a bowl. Add the tomatoes, bell peppers, chili peppers, onions, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper, and mix well. Transfer everything to a Roman pot. Place the potato slices over the meat and tomato mixture. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for about 2.5 hours. Sprinkle with cheese just before the meal is ready. Serve with chopped parsley.
