Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours
for large families
Prepare a smooth yeast dough from the dough ingredients. Everyone has their own preferred method. Cover it with a plastic bag and let it rise for about 30 minutes. Then knead thoroughly again and divide the dough into 5 pieces: 3 slightly larger and 2 smaller pieces. Shape the three larger pieces into strands about 40-50 cm long and braid them into a plait. Lightly press the center of the plait with a rolling pin. Shape the two smaller pieces of dough into strands about 60 cm long and place them in the center of the plait, wrapped in a rope. This rope should be large enough to hold 5 eggs, each in the empty hollows between them. Lightly grease the boiled eggs with oil and place them in the middle of the hollows. Brush the plait with egg wash and, if desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place the whole thing on a baking sheet and let it rise, covered, for another 15 minutes. In the meantime, preheat the oven. Bake at 180°C fan-assisted oven or 200°C conventional oven. Bake the plaited loaf for approximately 45 minutes. After the first 10 minutes, reduce the temperature by approximately 20°C.
