Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chili pepper(s), dried
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 large can of tomatoes
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Add the crushed garlic cloves to the olive oil and sauté. Add the tomatoes and crushed chili peppers and season generously with salt. Simmer gently, uncovered or uncovered, depending on whether you’re using it later (as pizza sauce or for pasta), for about 60 minutes or longer. Crush the tomatoes occasionally with a fork. You can also add a generous amount of fresh basil, or 4-5 anchovy fillets and 1 tablespoon of chopped capers along with the garlic. The sauce tastes great with pasta and on pizza. It also goes well with thinly sliced roast beef cooked in olive oil. If using the sauce for pizza, it will make enough for 2 baking trays.
