Rainbow Cocktail

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • e.g. orange juice (preferably from orange juice concentrate so that no pieces of fruit are contained in the juice)
  • e.g. mineral water with lots of carbonation, or sparkling wine
  • e.g. food coloring, blue, or Blue Curaçao
  • e.g. grenadine or pomegranate syrup

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

possible with and without alcohol

First, color the mineral water with the blue food coloring. Stir it as little as possible to maintain the carbonation. Then, pour the orange juice into a glass. Be sure to leave some space at the top, as some liquid will be added later. Using a spoon, carefully pour the pomegranate syrup into the glass. To do this, hold the spoon with the tip against the rim of the glass, just below the surface of the orange juice, and gently let the syrup run onto the spoon. Since the syrup is heavier than the juice, it sinks to the bottom of the glass. This completes our red, orange, and yellow layers. Now we’re missing the green and blue: To do this, carefully pour the blue mineral water over a spoon. First, press the tip of the spoon against the rim of the glass, just below the surface of the orange juice, then move the spoon over the surface – keeping the tip on the rim of the glass so that the blue drink doesn’t have too much momentum and doesn’t mix. The water is lighter than the juice, forming the green layer. The carbonated part is even lighter, of course, forming a blue finish. Really cool!
