Spicy cucumber salad

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 50 ml vinegar (rice wine vinegar) or wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp palm sugar or cane sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 small red chili pepper(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the vinegar in a saucepan. Stir in the tamarind paste, sugar, fish sauce, and salt until the sugar has dissolved. Let cool. Wash the cucumbers, halve them lengthwise, and slice them thinly. Halve the chili pepper, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly. Peel the onion, halve it, and slice it thinly. Combine the cucumbers, onion, and chili pepper. Spread the marinade over the cucumber salad, mix well, and let it stand for about 30 minutes. Season to taste with vinegar and sugar before serving.
