Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 200 g margarine
  • ⅛ liter milk
  • 30 g yeast
  • Salt
  • 175 g bacon, cut into cubes
  • 65 g margarine
  • 750 g onion(s), cut into rings
  • 2 tbsp caraway (also as caraway powder)
  • ¼ liter sour cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 40 g starch flour
  • Grease for the tray

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

according to GDR recipe

Prepare a yeast dough with flour, 200g margarine, yeast, milk, and salt. Let it rise until it has significantly increased in size. Place it on a greased baking sheet, pressing down the edges. For the topping, sauté the onions and bacon in 65g melted margarine, then add the caraway seeds. Let it cool slightly. Then add salt, sour cream, eggs, and cornstarch if desired. Mix everything together and then spread it on the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (medium heat) for about 40 minutes and serve immediately. Serve with a cold beer or white wine.
