Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g mutton or lamb, finely chopped
  • 1 large onion(s), finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, grated
  • 500 g rice
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 liter of water
  • 1 small can of tomato paste

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Oriental rice dish in a Tajik variation

Brown the finely chopped meat with the finely chopped onion and grated carrots in hot oil. When the meat is almost cooked, add the dry rice and continue to fry. Stir with a wooden spoon to combine everything before adding approximately 1 liter of water. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then stir in the tomato paste. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve hot.
