Braised white cabbage

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 white cabbage
  • 20 g lard
  • Vegetable broth (instant)
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tsp caraway seeds
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 100 g sour cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Quarter the white cabbage and generously remove the stalk. Cut the quarters into strips (they can be a bit larger) and fry in hot lard, stirring frequently. Then add caraway seeds, salt, pepper, and sugar. Top up with vegetable stock. The cabbage should not be covered. Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring regularly. Finally, add the sour cream to the cabbage and season to taste.
