Balsamic onions

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 500 g shallot(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 sprig(s) Thyme , small branch
  • 1 sprig(s) rosemary, small branch
  • ½ tsp peppercorns
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 300 ml red wine
  • 100 ml balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Antipasti, also delicious with grilled or roasted dishes

Peel and halve the shallots and garlic. Place them in a saucepan with all the remaining ingredients, ensuring everything is well covered with liquid, and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes over low heat. Let cool in the liquid (and serve in the liquid). Serve lukewarm or cold. The serving size refers to buffet portions.
