Spicy beef with lemongrass

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g beef fillet(s)
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oil (sesame oil)
  • 1 chili pepper(s), pitted, in fine rings
  • 1 vegetable onion(s), peeled, cut into rings
  • 1 sprig lemongrass (alternatively finely chopped from a jar or frozen)
  • 3 tomatoes, peeled and diced (alternatively a small can)
  • some curry
  • some chili powder
  • some ginger, grated
  • some oil for frying
  • 1 sprig lemongrass, for the rice
  • 250 g rice

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

quickly prepared and still delicious

Mix together the soy sauce, oil, chili pepper, curry, and ginger. Marinate the shredded beef in it for at least 30 minutes, then fry in hot oil. Tie the lemongrass together (to prevent fraying) and tuck in the ends to release the flavor. Remove the meat from the pan/wok and fry the lemongrass with the onion. When the onion is golden brown, add the tomatoes and sauté. Return the meat and let it simmer for a short while. Cook the rice with the lemongrass and season with chili powder. Remove the lemongrass and serve.
