Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g beef
  • 400 g onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 bell peppers, red
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 250 ml red wine
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • ½ tsp caraway powder
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

Wash the beef and cut into large cubes. Peel the onions and finely dice. Wash the bell peppers, remove the seeds, and cut into larger, larger cubes. Heat the oil in a large pot and briefly sauté the tomato paste, caraway seeds, paprika, and bay leaves. Then add the onions and bell peppers and sauté briefly. Add the goulash and fry briefly. Deglaze with red wine and stock, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer over medium heat for about 90 minutes. The onions should be completely cooked; they will then form the sauce. When the meat is nice and tender, the goulash is ready. Season with pepper and salt. Spätzle goes very well with it.
