Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 50 g butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • 20 g yeast
  • 250 g flour
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp orange peel, grated
  • 50 g nuts (hazelnuts or walnuts), grated
  • 50 g pistachios, finely ground
  • 1 egg white, for brushing
  • Chopped nuts for sprinkling
  • Pistachios, chopped

Melt the butter in a saucepan and then add the milk. Let it cool to lukewarm. Add the yeast and dissolve it. Place the flour, sugar, egg yolk, and salt in a bowl. Pour in the butter, milk, and yeast mixture and knead everything together until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Divide the risen dough into three equal portions. Knead the grated orange zest into one portion. Knead the grated nuts into the second portion, thoroughly mixing them. Knead the ground pistachios into the last portion. Then shape the different doughs into walnut-sized balls. Grease a 25 cm long loaf pan and place the dough balls alternately in the pan. Cover and let rise again in a warm place. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with chopped nuts and pistachios. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes.
