KitKat cake with colorful Smarties

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 m.-sized eggs
  • 120 g sugar
  • 150 g flour
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 380 g mascarpone
  • 80 g powdered sugar
  • 30 g cocoa powder
  • 2 packs of chocolate bars (KitKat)
  • 1 pack of Smarties

Instructions

Working time approx. 50 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 25 minutes

for an 18 cm springform pan

For the base: Separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites and sugar until creamy. Once creamy, stir in the egg yolks. Mix the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder together, then gradually add to the creamy mixture, mixing well. Pour the batter into an 18cm cake tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30-35 minutes. Let the base cool for 1 hour, then cut it in half. For the filling: Mix the mascarpone, icing sugar, and cocoa powder well with a mixer. Spread some of it on the bases, then stack the bases on top of each other. Spread the rest on the sides and top. For the decoration: Break the Kit Kats in half so that two strips are always together. Place the strips along the edge of the cake and press them down lightly. Now tie a bow around the cake to hold everything in place. Finally, place the Smarties.
