Cinnamon waffles

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 600 g flour
  • 250 g margarine
  • 300 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 30 g cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 50 g nuts, ground, e.g. almonds
  • 1 tbsp, heaped cocoa powder (baking)
  • e.g. milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Saarland Christmas pastries

Combine all ingredients, except the milk, in order with a hand mixer until you have a smooth, slightly firm dough. It’s okay if it’s a bit sticky. If the dough is too stiff, simply add a splash of milk and continue kneading until the consistency is reached. Then form the dough into small balls, roughly the size of Giotto balls. Grease a cinnamon waffle iron and bake the balls in batches. The cinnamon waffles taste best when cooled and will keep in a tin for at least 2 months.
