my favorite cookies – they taste good all year round
Cream the softened peanut butter with the softened butter and both sugars. Then beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix the flour and baking powder and stir in alternately with the oil and milk. Fold in the chocolate shavings. Form walnut-sized balls (this works best with lightly oiled hands), place them on a baking sheet (greased or lined with baking paper), and flatten them. Note: The shape doesn’t change much during baking, so they can be placed quite close together. I made about three baking sheets, but I’ve never counted them. Bake at about 175°C (350°F) for about 18-20 minutes. If you like peanuts, use a mixture of chocolate shavings and chopped peanuts (unsalted!, about a 1:1 ratio) instead of the chocolate shavings. If you have leftover chocolate Santas or Easter bunnies, freeze them in a freezer bag for a few hours. Then, using a rolling pin, crush them as finely as possible in the bag and use them instead of the chocolate shavings.
