Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 50 minutes

Makes about 50 pieces. Chop the walnuts into small pieces, do not grind them. Cream the butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, half a cup of milk, and the sugar. Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, clove powder, and cocoa powder into the mixture. Add the chopped walnuts and mix everything into a smooth dough. Grease a baking sheet well and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Spread the dough on the dough and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes. Only cut into strips about 8 cm long and 2 cm wide the next day. Make a glaze from powdered sugar, lemon juice, and water and brush it over the spiced bread. Grandma’s spiced breads only develop their full flavor after a few days.
