Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
popular with toddlers, vegetarian alternative to meatballs
Cut the rolls or pretzels into thin slices and let them soak in a bowl of warm milk for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, grate the cheese or cut it into fine cubes and finely chop the chives and onions. Once the baked goods have absorbed the milk, fold in all the other ingredients. (For small children, omit the nutmeg and add only a little salt.) Form meatballs about the size of your hand and fry in a greased pan at medium heat. When using the amount of chives and onions, keep in mind that some small children don’t like them and they can be difficult to digest. Tip: Sprinkle your hands with breadcrumbs or flour before shaping them if a lot of the mixture sticks to your hands.
