Spaghetti with tomato sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 small onions
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 5 tbsp milk or cream
  • 500g spaghetti
  • 500 g tomatoes, chopped or pureed, or both mixed

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water until al dente. Dice the onion and garlic. Heat the oil and butter in a pan and sauté the diced onion for 3 minutes. Then add the garlic and fry briefly. Add the tomato paste to the pan, fry briefly, and then add the bay leaves. Then add the tomatoes, salt, sugar, herbs, and spices and simmer for about 6-7 minutes. Then stir in a little of the pasta water and simmer for another 5-6 minutes. Add milk or cream to flavor. Drain the cooked spaghetti and add it to the pan. Mix everything together and serve hot.
