Pumpkin-Zucchini Gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g pumpkin flesh, trimmed, sliced
  • 400 g zucchini, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 tsp butter, for sautéing
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Pepper, from the mill
  • Salt
  • 400 g cottage cheese
  • 1 ½ dl cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp pumpkin seeds, coarsely chopped
  • Pepper, from the mill
  • Salt
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 50 g cheese (Gruyère), or other cheese for gratin

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Sauté the pumpkin slices in butter, sprinkle with sugar, and cook over low heat, covered, until al dente. Season with salt and pepper. In a well-greased baking dish, alternate layers of zucchini and pumpkin slices, interspersing the garlic slices. For the topping, whisk all ingredients well, season, and pour over the vegetables. Bake in the center of a preheated oven to 200°C for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes.
