Winter apple and plum jam

Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 550 g plums, pitted and washed
  • 300 g apples, pitted and washed, chopped
  • some lemon juice
  • 50 ml water
  • 300 g gelling sugar, 3:1
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

with honey and cinnamon

Prepare the twist-off jars. Place the apples and plums in a large saucepan with the water, lemon juice, honey, and preserving sugar and bring to a boil. Then simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture (especially the apple pieces) is soft. Now puree with a hand blender (a simple hand blender will also work if the fruit is soft enough). Season with cinnamon and nutmeg. Simmer for about another minute and then quickly pour into clean screw-top jars. Seal the jars and turn them upside down. After 5 minutes, turn them upside down and let them cool.
