Potato gratin with apple crust

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 stalk(s) leeks
  • 1 kg potato(s), floury
  • salt and pepper
  • 200 g cream
  • ½ bunch marjoram, fresh
  • 2 apples, sour
  • 160 g mountain cheese, grated
  • 40 g sunflower seeds
  • 20 g butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Clean and wash the leeks, then slice them into thin rings, including the tender green parts. Wash and peel the potatoes, and slice them thinly using a cucumber slicer. Layer the leeks and potatoes in an ovenproof dish and season each with salt and pepper. Pour the cream onto the sides. Wash the marjoram, swirl it dry, and finely chop the leaves. Peel and finely dice the apples. Mix the marjoram, apples, cheese, and sunflower seeds, and season with pepper. Spread the apple mixture over the gratin and top with knobs of butter. Place the dish on the oven rack (center). Bake at 200°C for about 40 minutes, until the potatoes are al dente and the surface is browned.
