Potato gratin with ham

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 thick potatoes
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 50 ml milk
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • Paprika powder
  • rosemary
  • Parsley
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 200 g Emmental cheese, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut the ham into strips or squares, as desired. Halve the garlic clove and rub the cut ends into the baking dish. Now layer the potato slices with the ham and some grated cheese in the dish. For the sauce, refine the cream with about 50 ml of milk. Now add salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, and rosemary to your taste to the cream and milk mixture. Season with a little nutmeg. But be careful not to add too much! Mix everything well and pour over the potatoes in the dish. Finally, cover everything with grated cheese. Then cover the dish with aluminum foil. Bake the gratin in a hot oven at approx. 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes of cooking, remove the aluminum foil and let the cheese turn golden brown for another 15 minutes.
