Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g rice
  • 500 g turkey meat
  • 250 g shrimp(s)
  • 1 can pineapple (pieces), drained, reserving the juice
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 5 tbsp mayonnaise
  • lots of curry
  • some oil
  • Salt
  • possibly chili
  • optional spice(s) of your choice

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

A delight, hot or cold!

First, cook the rice as usual. Mix the canned pineapple juice, sour cream, mayonnaise, and plenty of curry powder (mild or hotter, depending on your taste) into a sauce. In the meantime, cut the turkey into bite-sized pieces and fry them in a pan with a little oil. Fry the pineapple pieces with the meat for a while, then add the honey. Continue to simmer on low heat for a while. Add the shrimp and sauté to taste. Then, combine the meat, cooked rice, and sauce in a large pot. Season with salt, curry, chili, etc., if desired. Your imagination is the limit. In Africa, this dish is usually eaten cold, like a salad. I always make enough to make sure I have some left over for the next day. This recipe, according to oral tradition, comes from South Africa. I received it without any measurements and always cook it myself by feel, but the quantities should be roughly correct.
