clever amuse gueule

Peel, core, and quarter the pears. Depending on their ripeness, steam them for another 2-6 minutes (e.g., in the microwave). Wrap each pear quarter in a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Heat the butter in a nonstick pan. Add the pears and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side. Serve warm or lukewarm. These go perfectly with other amuse-bouches; you can create a beautiful appetizer platter. Alternatively, you can serve them with lamb’s lettuce and dark balsamic dressing, or simply serve them as appetizers before a course meal or at a buffet.
