Basic Recipe: Potato Dough

The perfect basic recipe: potato dough recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 kg Floury potatoes
  • 25 dag Flour
  • 5 dag Semolina
  • 3 dag Butter
  • 1 Pc. Egg
  • Salt

preparation

  1. Wash, boil and peel the potatoes. Let cool down

  1. Mash the potatoes and season with salt.
  2. Mix with flour and work with the remaining ingredients to form a dough. Warning: potato dough becomes tough if it is processed too long.
  3. Shape the dough into a roll, cut off small pieces and process them into dumplings, for example.

Serving suggestion

  1. Solid as potato dumplings or potato noodles as a side dish, as hash dumplings as a main course or sweet as apricot dumplings or strawberry dumplings. Depending on the size, the dumplings need another 15-20 minutes (cooking time). You can find recipes for hearty and sweet dumplings in my cookbook.
