  • 60 g cocoa powder, dark
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Recipe from my grandma

Beat the eggs with sugar, honey, and butter until frothy. Combine the flour, cocoa, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking powder and stir into the fluffy mixture. Finally, add the almonds and knead well. Shape the dough into 3-5 cm thick rolls and bake them on a baking sheet, leaving plenty of space between them, in a preheated oven at 160°C for a maximum of 30 minutes. The pastries should be cooked through, but not hard, otherwise they will become miserably dry and difficult to bite into. Brush the cooled rolls with a glaze made from powdered sugar and water. Once the glaze has set, cut the rolls into 2-3 cm thick slices. Store for a few days, as the pastries will be hard to begin with. They will only reach their peak flavor after 2-3 weeks.
