How to Plant Beans in the Open Ground: 5 Basic Rules

Nutritionists call beans one of the most successful crops – it is suitable for regular consumption, and as a good alternative to meat products, and as an ingredient for canning.

What kinds of beans – a list

Before you start planting beans, you should decide on the type of plant. There are only 5 of them:

  • bush;
  • asparagus;
  • ornamental;
  • Grain;
  • climbing.

Grain, for example, is grown for beans and their subsequent consumption in food. Decorative is needed for flowers, and asparagus – for pods.

How to properly plant beans in the open ground – preparation

The first stage of planting beans is a careful inspection of the seeds. You must sort them, and remove damaged and low-quality copies. Then you need to soak the beans in water overnight – swollen, they will take root faster. Some gardeners use special growth stimulants, adding them to clean water – in such a solution, the beans are much faster absorbed by useful substances and will be ready for planting.

IMPORTANT: leave the beans in water for longer than 15 hours – the beans will “choke” and instead of active growth, you will get the opposite result.

What fertilizer to apply when planting beans

The best option for beans – is fertile, moist, and loose soil. Loamy and sandy loam soil are ideal. Be sure to put humus in the soil before planting to feed the beans immediately – this will have a favorable effect on their growth.

It is also important to choose the right place. It is best to stop at a site under the fence, which always gets direct sunlight. If you have chosen a curly type of culture, then it can be planted on a net – then you will not need additional support.

Onions, cucumbers, cabbage, or potatoes are good precursors for beans. In addition, you can safely plant it between the beds of these plants, because the bean is a cider plant, which means that it supplies the soil with nitrogen and speeds up the growth of all nearby crops.

How to grow beans in the countryside – steps

Starting to plant beans, follow the instructions below:

  • dig a bed and make holes at a distance of 15-20 cm from each other;
  • Put hummus at the bottom of the holes;
  • Water the excavated holes with clean water;
  • put 2-3 seeds in each hole to a depth of no more than 3-4 cm;
  • Backfill the holes with the earth and level the bed.

If you plant climbing beans, then put 5-7 nests in the hole, and be sure to take into account the presence of support nearby.

When to plant beans in 2022 according to the lunar calendar

The minimum soil temperature for planting beans is 10-12 ° C, and the optimal temperature is 20-25 ° C. If the temperature is lower, the seeds will rot, which is why this culture is planted only when the soil is well-warmed.

The most favorable period for planting beans in June is considered to be the week from the 24th to the 30th of the month. However, remember that on the days of the new moon and full moon, you can’t work on the garden, so June 29 should be crossed off the list.
