Mold in the apartment – what is dangerous and why it appears

In order to start fighting mold, you need to understand what it is. In total, scientists sound out three types of mold:

  • green – most often appears on foodstuffs that are in an enclosed space;
  • white – familiar to many people, as it forms on the ground in home flowers, which from
  • excessive moisture is covered with a white deposit;
  • black – can be noticed on the walls, plumbing, ceiling, and other places in the apartment;
  • Blue and rotten – affects wooden ceilings in houses and apartments.

Black mold is considered the most dangerous: it causes the development of many skin diseases, allergic reactions, asthma, headaches, and sleep problems. In especially neglected cases and prolonged exposure, a person can even find himself with lung cancer.

There are many reasons for the occurrence of any particular type of mold:

  • high humidity in the apartment;
  • Insufficient ventilation;
  • Regular freezing of the walls;
  • water leaks or broken water pipes;
  • Lack of air tightness in the roof of the house;
  • Insufficient or no heating of the room.

No one is safe from the appearance of mold, the main thing is to take timely measures and begin to fight it in order to protect your home from the major repairs, and yourself from serious illnesses.

How to get rid of mold on the walls in the apartment with your own hands

You can arrange a fight with mold, armed with chemical or folk remedies. In the first case, you will just need to go to the store and buy the necessary remedy, in the second case – to resort to the “grandma’s” methods.

Vinegar against mold in the bathroom and kitchen

Vapors of vinegar are non-toxic, so you can use it to successfully and quickly get rid of mold. You need to pour the vinegar into a sprayer and apply it to the affected areas in the apartment.

IMPORTANT: Before you treat surfaces with vinegar, it is better to take a scraper and clean off any spores you find.

How to get rid of mold in the house with peroxide

As effective as vinegar, which also needs to be poured into a sprayer and only then treat on the surfaces. As in the case of vinegar, it is better to remove black mold with a scraper beforehand.

How to remove mold from walls with ammonia

In order for ammonia to please you with the desired effect, dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:1 and treat the resulting solution on walls, ceilings, tiles, and other surfaces affected by mold. Leave it for one hour, then wash off the ammonia and ventilate the room.

IMPORTANT: use ammonia only on smooth surfaces, as on porous surfaces it will enter into a compound with mold and it will become even larger.

Soda against mold on walls and in the bathroom

The easiest and safest “grandma” method, is ideal for those who want to get rid of mold. The recipe is simple – take a glass of water, sprinkle 1 tsp of baking soda there, and treat the surface with the problem areas with the resulting solution. Leave it for 1 hour, and then wipe it with a damp cloth. You may not even rinse it off the surface completely, as baking soda acts as an excellent preventive agent against the further occurrence of such dangerous fungus.
